Andriy Zholdak about production

When I began rehearsing a texts of Goldoni ,,Servant of two masters " after 7 days, I got bored and decided to ... turn off the logic .. and trust my impulses and swim in the river of my imaginations… And as more as I moved in my dreams, the clear contours of this play disappeared... I went and plunged into another story, which leading me...

Happened what happened... my reflections about myself, about the theatre, about cinematography about popular culture and about ultraboundary cosmos... about feelings of young people... about the fact that the theatre is a dream... theater is a DREAM, it's a different reality, I remind this to myself and others people, whose make a theatre, and remind to spectators too.

Carlo Osvaldo Goldoni (1707-1793)   - an Italian playwright and librettist from the Republic of Venice. He superseding the comedy of masks and the comedy of intrigue by representations of actual life and manners. He rightly maintained that Italian life and manners were susceptible of artistic treatment such as had not been given them before. One of his best known works is the comic play Servant of Two Masters (1746) which has been translated and adapted internationally numerous times. Most famous staging of this play had been made by Giorgio Strehler in Piccolo Teatro di Milano in 1947 and was played more that 50 years.

One of the main point in this dramaturgical material is not only the play of Goldoni, Harlequin, comedy dell arte but first of all Mask and the cultural images of Mask in literature, drama, theatre, painting arts. Mask has been used since antiquity times. Image of Mask and Harlequin been touched by many famouse painters such as Pablo Picasso, Paul Sezanne, Joan Miro
